Places to Visit in Pushkar: 15 Best Spots for 2026

Here is my working list of pushkar tourist places, roughly in the order I take people through them.

1. Pushkar Lake

Every itinerary I build starts here. Pilgrims travel long distances just to bathe in these waters before moving on to the temples nearby, and the atmosphere at dawn is unlike anything else in town.

• Best time: Early morning for the aarti, or sunset for the light on the water
• Entry fee: Free, though photography near the ghats needs permission from the pandits
• My tip: Pick a smaller, quieter ghat away from the main crowd and just sit for a while

2. Brahma Temple

Most of India worships Lord Brahma in scripture but rarely in stone, which is exactly what makes this shrine unusual. Its marble walls and red spire catch your eye from almost any corner of Pushkar.

• Timings: 6 AM to 8 PM, closed briefly in the afternoon
• Entry fee: Free
• My tip: Visit right after the morning aarti, before the tour groups start arriving mid morning

3. Savitri Mata Temple

A hilltop shrine honoring Savitri, consort of Lord Brahma, reachable either by a quick ropeway ride or on foot if you are up for the climb.

• Timings: 6 AM to 7 PM
• My tip: Time your visit for sunset, the panorama of the lake against the desert is hard to beat anywhere in Rajasthan

4. Rangji Temple

The architecture here breaks the usual Rajasthan mold, borrowing from South Indian temple design with a soaring gopuram that towers over the surrounding bazaar.

• Timings: 8 AM to 12 PM and 4 PM to 8 PM
• My tip: Wander the narrow lanes around it afterward, they are packed with small silver jewelry stalls

5. Varah Temple

An older shrine honoring Lord Vishnu’s boar form, and one of the quieter stops on this list simply because most tour groups skip it.

• Timings: 5 AM to 8 PM
• My tip: If you want a temple experience without the crowds, this is where I send people

6. Apteshwar Mahadev Temple

Set just behind the main market, this Shiva shrine sits below ground level, and stepping down into its cool, dim chamber feels like a different world from the open ghats outside.

• Timings: 6 AM to 8 PM
• My tip: The entrance is easy to walk past, ask a shopkeeper near Sadar Bazaar to point you in

7. Pap Mochani Mata Temple

Set on a hill opposite Savitri Mata Temple, this shrine sees a fraction of the footfall, which makes the climb up feel unusually calm.

• Best time: Early morning before the heat sets in
• My tip: Wear proper shoes, a few stretches of the path are uneven

8. Man Mahal

Once a royal guesthouse commissioned by Raja Man Singh I of Jaipur, this lakeside building now operates as a hotel with a terrace that looks straight out over the water.

• My tip: You do not need a room here to enjoy it, a coffee on the terrace gets you one of the best lake views in town

9. Sadar Bazaar

Pushkar’s main shopping street, and where I send almost everyone looking to buy something. Silver, tie and dye textiles, rose products, and leather goods fill the stalls on both sides. It is also where most of the town’s rooftop cafes in Pushkar cluster, and a good place to try the satvik thalis and street snacks covered in my Pushkar food guide.

• Best time: Late afternoon into the evening, when the street fills up
• My tip: Bargaining is the norm here, opening around half the quoted price is a reasonable start

10. Pushkar Camel Fair Ground

Even outside fair season, this open stretch of land is worth a look if you want a sense of scale. Come November, it turns into one of the largest livestock gatherings anywhere in the country.

• Best time: November for the actual fair, otherwise a short daytime stop
• My tip: If your dates overlap with the fair, book your stay months ahead since rooms disappear fast

11. Rose Gardens of Pushkar

The fields just outside town supply a significant share of India’s roses, making them one of the more overlooked places of interest in Pushkar.

• Best time: Winter mornings, when the blooms are at their freshest
• My tip: A few farms allow walk in visits for a small charge, and you can pick up fresh gulkand there directly

12. The 52 Ghats of Pushkar

Past the main bathing ghat, dozens more line the lake, each carrying its own name and its own small piece of local history.

• My tip: Rather than trying to see every ghat, walk one stretch slowly, the pace matters more than the count

13. Gurudwara Singh Sabha

A quiet Sikh place of worship that most visitors never realize exists, tucked away from the main tourist trail.

• Timings: Open through the day
• My tip: If mealtime lines up with your visit, stop for the langar, open to everyone regardless of faith

14. Naga Pahar Viewpoint

A short drive from the center of town brings you to this lookout over the Naga hills, with the desert stretching out in every direction.

• Best time: Sunset
• My tip: Carry your own water, there are no shops once you reach the top

15. Desert Safari on the Sand Dunes

The town gives way to open desert almost without warning. A camel or jeep ride to the dunes ranks among the pushkar attractions my clients ask about most.

• Best time: Late afternoon into sunset
• My tip: Go with a known local operator instead of the first person who flags you down near the lake, rates differ a lot
